Department of Civil Servant Development

Taipei is one of the international capital cities and our country's leading city in political, economic and cultural activities.  This year marks the 100th anniversary of its foundation and the Department of Civil Servant Development of the Taipei City Government has planned a series of the "Trends Forum" lectures to closely follow the global sustainable development goals and municipal development affairs.

The Department of Civil Servant Development of the Taipei City Government introduced the second session of the Trends Forum on the afternoon of November 26th, and the topic was "Local Transformation x Create Future – From Market Renovation, Business District Transformation to Industry Innovation".  Deputy Mayor Shan-Shan HUANG delivered a keynote speech on the strategies of markets, business districts, startups, and pandemic prevention.  The event also invited Secretary-General Steve HSU of the Management Intelligence Sharing Association as the host, and Steve YANG, the CEO of Canopy, and Wei-Cheng CHANG, the Vice President of Corporate Synergy Development Center were invited as panelists to discuss Taipei's policies on industry development and transformation, technological innovation, cross-domain communication, and talent cultivation.

The "Trends Forum" opened with a sonorous and powerful introduction delivered by the host, Steve HSU and a performance of Shamisen folk songs from Okinawa, Japan, followed by a keynote speech delivered by Deputy Mayor HUANG to trigger everyone's imagination and understanding of promoting Taipei's industry development.  Applications and innovations involving market renovation, revitalization of business districts, innovation and entrepreneurship, and pandemic control were discussed in the Forum to show everyone how the teams in the City Government of Taipei dealt with the challenges. 

CEO Steve YANG introduced the small and medium innovative enterprises that had received awards and subsidies from the City Government, such as Impact Hub Taipei, Walk in Taiwan and others, to share the current development highlights and important topics of innovative industries.  VP CHANG discussed street economy issues of the current city development and emphasized the importance of incorporating aesthetics, in-depth experience, peace of mind and safety, resilient cities, and other industry governance strategies, before finishing his speech with a topic on succession to encourage and affirm the city governance achievement of Taipei.
An "Experience Demo Zone" was set up outside the venue to align with the main theme of the forum.  The Department of Economic Development of the city government showcased the models of market building projects, such as the Chenggong Market, First Fruit and Vegetable Wholesale Market, and Wanda Fish Wholesale Market, so that the attendees of the forum would experience the development prototype of market renovations in Taipei through the professional introduction conducted by scholars and experts.

In response to the requirements of pandemic control measures, the event adopted real-name registration, and the attendees also maintained social distancing and wore masks.  The event also offered live broadcast and Slido Q&A to allow more colleagues who were not at the event to share the results, so that more people would understand the status and performance of the city government's progress in important industry policies.
